Expensive but well worth it. June 28, 2010 Jeff (MD, USA) 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
First I got the Samsung BD-C6500 but because there were a number of issues (ex. the tray wouldn't open, slow menu response, network issues) I return it. I got the Sony BDP-S570 next but was disappointed by the Netflix non-HD streaming quality; it was good but not as good as the Samsung BD-C6500. I ended up returning the Sony to get the Samsung BD-C7500, which is perfect (so far). I say "so far" since I've only had this player for a week and only have played a couple blu-ray discs and a few Netflix movies.
The menu and network issues experienced with the C6500 were resolved in the C7500, and the Netflix steaming quality is great. And as you'd expect with most blu-ray players, the blu-ray disc quality is great.
Some things to note are:
If you use the stand, the display isn't readable but that isn't a big lost and if you lay it flat or wall-mount it that shouldn't be an issue.
The entire top panel slides to the left (requiring 6in of space) revealing the disc tray.
Easy setup and GREAT performance. July 28, 2010 Floyd F. Dean (Nashville, TN) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I usually experience some difficulties when setting up new electronic equipment. With this one, however, it went just like clockwork. I read the detailed instructions and followed them precisely....no shortcuts. Immediate success in picking up my wireless network. I was watching streaming content within 45 minutes after starting installation, and a lot of that time was downloading updates. I have watched a few blu-ray discs, and it is excellent.
A Nice Blu Ray player! but not so good at streaming August 28, 2010 Aleksander I have been using the player for about a week or 2 and it is great paired up with the samsung 46 led 6000 series. when i power on the blu ray pressing power button on the player the tv turns on as well.
Reads the discs super quick. about 3-4 seconds.
Easy to use interface and wifi and 1gb memory is a plus!
Streaming through lan or wifi is a nightmare with HD movies mkv, or any files over 4gb. anything below that is ok. It just gets very laggy even though I have comcast high speed internet. It has a internet speed test built in and I got up to 1.8mbps on lan and 1.6 on wifi and still laggy...
I have to say I love that it has a usb port on the side and plays a lot of different video/audio formats, dts, dolby digital ac3, didn't have a problem with any movies through usb.
And this player looks real good to with its shiny kind of wood looking glossy finish.
High Speed Internet Required July 16, 2010 Timothy Disbrow 6 out of 11 found this review helpful
This product is a mixed blessing for me. Without a high speed connection, you will be frustrated beyond measure. The Internet TV function (which includes Netflix, Pandora, Vudu and Blockbuster) requires 1.5 Mbps speed for uninterrupted functioning according to the messages on the screen. I purchased 5Mbps DSL service from Verizon (Fios is not available in my neighborhood)to make this unit stop hiccuping on me. Well, it sees only about 1.2Mbps according to its own measurement. So, I get periodic "no internet connection" messages, delayed or interrupted streaming movies and a general unwillingness for the unit to behave. My hunch is that those with the really fast Fios Internet or the equivalent will see none of these problems whatsoever. If you have 10Mbps or greater internet speeds, you can probably ignore this paragraph and consider the Samsung a 5-star performer.
The disc player function works well. Very good video and audio quality with HD and Blu-ray discs. This is not a 3D player for those who were wondering. I do like Samsung products in general, so there's no bad blood between myself and the manufacturer. I haven't decided if I'll keep this unit. I have owned it about a week and spent a lot of time on this machine. All the software is up-to-date.
I also refer you to "Jeff"'s comments as being very helpful. His was the first review of this product. I've also included an address for those wanting more info from Samsung. [...] Good shopping.
Does not play 3D DVD July 15, 2010 S. Bellapravalu (MO, USA) 2 out of 11 found this review helpful
I agree with most of what others have noted about the Blu ray disc player. It is sleek, very good streaming quality for netflix and blockbuster movies. However, I was shocked to find out that it does not play 3D DVDs. It seems irrational as the lower priced models like BD 6800, BD 5900 play 3D. Also, the display of BD7500 is not visible at all angles.
